How to use Storyline
to launch your book

A simple weekly rhythm that connects what you do to what happens. No guesswork. No overwhelm. Just show up, track, and learn.

01

Set your Weekly Big Three

Every Monday, Storyline asks: What three things will you do this week to put your book in front of people?

Pick from categories like Earned Media (podcasts, press, book clubs), Social (IG, TikTok, Facebook), Direct Outreach (newsletters, speaking, events), and Promotions (ads, discounts, influencers). Or write in your own.

This isn't a to-do list. It's a commitment to yourself. Three lanes. One week. Let the story unfold.

02

Read your daily digest at 6pm

Every evening, a calm, beautiful email arrives in your inbox. It tells you three things:

  • How your book ranked yesterday — a single number that tells you whether more or fewer people found your book on Amazon.
  • Whether anyone bought a copy — we estimate sales from rank movement so you don't have to guess.
  • How the week is shaping up — a visual chart showing your trajectory, with your lifetime average as a reference line.

The digest also includes a short narrative — not data-speak, but a human explanation of what happened and what it means.

03

Log your highlights with one tap

At the bottom of every digest is a simple question: Did anything notable happen today?

Tap to log it. A podcast recording, a newsletter send, a bookstore event. It takes five seconds. At the end of the week, Storyline connects these highlights to your rank movement — so you can see which actions actually moved the needle.

04

Enter BookScan on Saturday

If you have access to BookScan data (through your publisher or NPD), Saturday's digest prompts you to enter it. This gives you ground-truth sales alongside Amazon's estimates — the full picture in one place.

Don't have BookScan? No problem. Storyline works perfectly without it.

05

Read your weekly chapter on Sunday

Sunday's digest is different. It's the whole week — every day's rank, every sale, every highlight you logged, all in one view.

You'll see your Weekly Big Three and whether you followed through. You'll see how your rank responded. And you'll be prompted to set next week's focus.

Over time, these weekly chapters become the story of your launch. Not just numbers — a narrative of an author who showed up.

Built for authors, not analysts

Everything you need to understand your launch. Nothing you don't.

Rank tracking

We poll Amazon every 30 minutes and turn that data into a clean daily rank and trend. Up is good. That's all you need to know.

Sales estimation

When your rank jumps, we estimate how many copies sold. These aren't just numbers — they're real people choosing your story.

The Weekly Big Three

Start each week by choosing three specific actions you'll take. We'll track whether you followed through — and how it shaped your rank.

Daily highlights

One tap to log what you did today — a podcast, an IG post, an email blast. At the end of the week, you'll see what moved the needle.

Weekly recap

Every Sunday: the full picture. Chart, sales, activity log, BookScan data, and a narrative summary of how your week unfolded.

Email-first design

No app to download. No dashboard to check. Storyline comes to you — a calm, beautiful email that feels like opening a letter.

Cozy reading nook with warm light

I stopped obsessively checking Amazon and started actually doing the work. Storyline gave me permission to focus on what I can control and let the story unfold.
